Bairdsville Review:
Swimming; Boating; Barbecuing; Biker Bash – oh, and throw some barrels and poles into the mix and you have a pretty perfect summer weekend! Hot, Hot, Hot – was the weather in western NB for our 5th event of the season for what many competitors said was the most fun yet. An afternoon of water fun was hosted by the Chase family at River Country campground – a refreshing break for all.
Saturday evening saw a large turnout for the Great Toonie Games – where some really great prizes were awarded! Sunday dawned a bit cooler for another excellent day of racing. Kate Dew and Takin Care of Chex took home their third high point youth cooler of the season, donated by Mark and Kathleen Zwaneveld. Amanda Hickey Leblanc won both runs of poles on the beautiful and talented Ultimate Little Fox. Lucy Gallant joined us for the first time this year riding Plain Ole Lyle, and had some exciting runs. Jason Wilkins and PB King Leo Buck won both runs of barrels.
Megan McConnell was unable to join us as she was busy spending a week with Betty Dyer ( future mother-in-law for Megan’s older sister Kate). Megan and Betty went to a National Barrel Horse Association show, and Maine Barrel Horse Association show, where Megan had some great pole runs, ending up 3rd in the 1D on one occasion with a 23 second run!
Tickets for Lucky, the beautiful yearling filly donated to us by Deerhorn Equine Ranch, will most likely be drawn earlier than originally expected, as Lucky is being shipped from Manitoba at the end of August and will have to go to her new home at that time. So if you haven’t purchased yours yet, make sure you do so soon. Tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for 25.00 . Check out deerhornequineranch.com to see some beautiful weanlings available for purchase at more than reasonable prices. All foals are micro chipped and enrolled in the fantastic NAERIC advantage fund, where every $ you earn can be matched by the fund
